Static IP Configuration for Windows 9x and 2000

Right click on Network Neighborhood and move down to Properties . Once highlighted, left click once on your mouse.
 
Highlight TCP/IP and click on Properties.
   
Check " Specify an IP address :
Note: Enter your first SpeedTrail
assigned IP address in " Specify an IP address", and the subnet mask in the "subnet mask " field.

In the EXAMPLE, the IP address would
be 205.177.54.34. and the subnet mask entry would be 255.255.255.240.


If you have Windows ME - do the following step, otherwise click on
the DNS Configuration Tab
   
For Windows ME only
Check the detect connection to network media box

click on the DNS Configuration Tab

   
Click Enable DNS

For "Host" enter your machine's name, this is your choice, many people use
their first initial and last name, for example: jsmith.

In the DNS field , enter the first DNS addresses that came with your setup page, and then click the " add "
button.

Enter the other DNS addresses in a similar manner

Click on the WINS Configuration tab.

   
Click Disable WINS Resolution

Click on the "Gateway" tab
   
Enter the Gateway address that came with your installation instructions in
the " New gateway " field and click
on " add ".
Now " OK " your way out to the "Configuration" tab .

Now restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
