To setup Netscape 6 for Windows to send and receive e-mail, follow these steps:
You will need the following information in order to setup an account. E-mail Address: (similar to "name@evcohs.com") User Name: (usually the part before the @ sign) Password: (the password for your mail account) Incoming Mail Server: ( "evcohs.com") for your EvCo. mail Outgoing Mail Server: ("evcohs.com" for your EvCo mail)
With Netscape running: 1 - Go to the 'Tasks' menu and select 'Mail & Newsgroups'. 2 - Go to the 'Edit' menu and select 'Mail/News Account Settings...' 3 - Click on 'New Account' in the bottom left of the window. 4 - Select 'ISP or email provider', then click the 'Next' button. 5 - In the Identity window, enter
- Your Name - This is the name people will see when you send them an e-mail address. I can be any name or nickname you like.
- Email Address - Enter the e-mail address you are setting up. Click the 'Next' button to continue.
6 - For the type of incoming server for your account, select 'POP'.
- Server name - enter your incoming mail server name ("evcohs.com" for your EvCo mail). Click the 'Next' button to continue.
7 - Enter your 'User Name'. This is the part of your e-mail address to the left of the '@' sign. For instance, janeandjohn@evcohs.com has a username of 'janeandjohn'. 8 - Enter your 'Account Name'. This is used by Netscape to differentiate among different account setups in Netscape. We recommend you enter your e-mail address, although you can enter any descriptive name that you like. Click the 'Next' button to continue. 9 - Click the 'Finish' button to finish the basic setup. 10 - In the 'Account Settings' window, click on 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' found in the left column. 11 - In the 'Server Name' field, enter your outgoing mail server name.("evcohs.com" for your EvCo mail) 12 - Click OK to finish the setup of your account. |
